This engaging Level G set features inspiring stories about influential figures from recent history, helping your student achieve new levels of spelling competence. Designed for students in the word extension stage of spelling, students are introduced to a new way of marking word patterns that emphasizes how prefixes and suffixes are added to base words to enhance or change their meanings. Copywork and dictation activities provide opportunities for students to practice new word patterns in a meaningful context. A weekly workshop page provides more practice with the concepts taught in each lesson. The focus of the passages in Modern Milestones is on artists, musicians, scientists, and others who have influenced our world since early modern times. This level has been designed to encourage more independent learning on the part of the student, always with the support and encouragement of the instructor.

The Spelling You See Modern Milestones Set includes an Instructor’s Handbook and Student Workbook and is ideal for instructors and students who are new to Spelling You See or are teaching this level for the first time.

The Learning Format
Spelling You See’s consistent format guides students through the five essential activities: listening, reading, chunking, copywork, and dictation (presented at the appropriate developmental stage). These activities help students transfer the correct spellings of common words they see in print to long-term memory, enabling them to eventually be able to reproduce the correct spellings in their everyday writing. Lessons are limited to short daily sessions to keep interest and enthusiasm high. There are no word lists to memorize and no weekly tests. Spelling You See is a program based on years of research into how students learn to spell. Students become effective communicators as they grasp the proper spelling of words in the English language.
